Bundesliga club Schalke have confirmed that they did reject a bid or Star midfielder Julian Draxler. The 20 year old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal.
Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt however did not confirm whether the bid that was rejected had come from Arsenal or any other club. There were various reports that a delegation from the club was in Germany to discuss the details before the transfer window slammed shut.
Draxler himself has confirmed that there were offers on the table for his services but the offer was not acceptable to his current club.
Arsenal could now face competition for the midfielder from German giants Bayern Munich who are also monitoring his situation.
The midfielder, who signed a new and improved fiver year deal at the club, must now concentrate on making sure his club qualifies for the 2014-15 Champions League .
