Fenerbahce fail to sign Papiss Cisse

Newcastle United's out-of-favour striker

Fenerbahce fail to sign Papiss Cisse

04 February 2014 - 12:35

Fenerbahce have failed to land the services of Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse before the Turkish transfer deadline.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The talented Senegalese international was linked with a switch away to Fenerbahce before the conclusion of the Turkish transfer window.

However, The Shields Gazette reveals that Fenerbahce failed with an 11th hour bid worth £6m for the forward, as the Magpies were unwilling to accept the offer.

Cisse has failed to ply his trade regularly for the Tyneside outfit this season having fallen behind the likes of Yoan Gouffran and Shola Ameobi in the pecking order, and could still leave the club in the winter with Rubin Kazan interested in his signature.

The Russian transfer window will close at the end of this month.
