Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the club are keen on signing on-loan Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

  • Juventus and Napoli enter race for Chelsea winger
  • Felix Nmecha linked with Chelsea move
  • The England international joined the Toffees from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal last summer, and has played a key part in the club's success in the Premier League since then.

Martinez insisted that the Merseyside club are keen on securing the veteran star's services on a permanent basis, with league rivals Arsenal also being linked with a move for the player.

“Whenever we have other clubs looking into our players that’s a good sign. I take it as a compliment, but our agreement (with Barry) was that in the summer we’ll sit down and see what’s best for him,” The Spaniard said.

“He has had an incredible career and he can choose where he wants to go. He was available last summer and he chose us.”

Gareth Barry has been excellent form this season, and has scored 3 goals in 20 Premier League games.
