Everton are aiming to climb into the top six; Sunderland are eager to keep out of the bottom three. Everton have seven points out of nine and look to build on an impressive start to the year. Sunderland haven't won in seven games.

  • Andy Johnson, Victor Anichebe and Tim Cahill would all be fit for this game. The away side on the other hand would be boosted by the return of Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Dean Whitehead is back from injury and Greg Halford is available again after serving a two-match ban. Carlos Edwards and Nyron Nosworthy would be out for this clash.



    This is the first meeting between the sides since the 2-2 draw at Goodison in April 2006 when Leon Osman and James McFadden were the goalscorers.



    Sunderland have won more Premier League games (five) and gained more Premier League points (17) against Everton than any other club.
