Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has reportedly tabled a bid for Hamburg's unhappy defender Michael Mancienne. The former Chelsea prospect wants a return to England.
Mancienne has struggled to adapt to life in Germany and has been repeatedly linked with a return home. Everton are also amongst the teams clamouring for a deal but eyefootball. com understands Sunderland are already in first place to secure a transfer. Mancienne has attracted interest from Spain too, with Real Betis also seeking a deal.
