Mauricio Pochettino to agree Southampton contract

Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino has dropped the biggest hint yet that he will be set to agree a new contract at Southampton. After the 4-2 win over Norwich yesterday, Pochettino confirmed that a deal is close to agreement.

Pochettino has performed remarkably well since taking charge at St. Mary's and many had expected him to leave after the departure of former chairman Nicola Cortese and after persistent links with other Premier League sides, including Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it appears that Pochettino is committed to the current project at Southampton and will put pen to paper on a five year contract that keeps him at his current club until at least 2019.

Eyefootball understands that an announcement will be made in the next 10 days regarding Pochettino's future.
