Newcastle's on loan striker Luuk De Jong is likely to be heading back to his parent club after his loan spell at St. James' Park comes to a close at the end of this season. The Dutch striker has failed to make an impression since his arrival.
The club's manager, Alan Pardew, had wanted to bring De Jong in to add competition for places as Papiss Cisse struggled to show the form that made him one of the Premier League's most dangerous attacking threats two seasons ago and De Jong had been tipped to be a hot prospect for the future for the Toon Army.
The striker is now likely to return to Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the year and could be sold to his former club FC Twente in the summer months once the transfer window reopens.
