Roma line up Jan Vertonghen transfer bid

Italian side Roma are preparing a 15 million Euro bid for Tottenham's defender Jan Vertonghen in the summer.  The former Ajax centre back is said to be looking for a summer exit after Spurs again missed out on Champions League football.

The Belgium international has been in excellent form since making a move to Tottenham but has always hinted that he would quit Tim Sherwood's club if they continued to fail to qualify for Europe's major competition.

The centre back has already attracted the interest of Barcelona, but after the Catalan side were banned from making any new transfers until next season, their interest cooled and Vertonghen looked set to stay at Spurs.

However, Roma, who have already qualified for the Champions League for next season are to make a transfer bid for the defender as soon as this season is finished.
