The Citizens failed in an attempt to secure the 26-year-old's services during the winter transfer window, as the Primeira Liga giants were unwilling to sell their star player in mid-season.

A report from the Mail claims that the Premier League champions will make a bid of around £14.5m to sign up the Porto star in a weeks' time.

Fernando notched up 36 appearances for Porto in all competitions last season.
