Ex Lyon defender Cacapa has signed for Newcastle United. The Brazilian defender has to complete a medical and the deal will be finished. Cacapa refused to sign a new contract at Lyon and the club, and was expected to return to his homeland.
Cacapa has been captain of Lyon for the last 5 seasons and has plenty of experience. Shay Given earlier commented that he believed Newcastle needed to further bolster their defence after only signing Rozenhal, however, Cacapa brings a wealth of experience to the club and will hope to add some trophies to his personal collection.
