Edwin wants xmas victories

03 December 2007 - 19:06

Edwin van der Sar has emphasised the importance of christmas victories in the Premiership for Man Utd. Van Der Sar added that the wins will give his side momentum as they chase leaders Arsenal.

  • Chelsea eyeing swoop for Newcastle United winger?
  • Chelsea defender suffers season-ending hamstring injury
  • Van der Sar told Manchester United Radio: “The Christmas and New Year period is very important.”

“We’ll play four games in ten days (from 23 December to 1 January) and while you could get all 12 points, you might drop some and that makes a world of a difference.”

“But before we can think about Christmas we have to play Fulham and Derby at Old Trafford and then the big game at Liverpool. Although… I did put my Christmas tree up yesterday so there’s a little bit of the festive feeling in my house!

“We’re not satisfied with the situation, we want to be on top,” says Edwin.

“We need a lot of hard work and some help from other teams who might get some wins or draws against Arsenal and the other big clubs.”
