Yaya Toure to stay at Manchester City

Yaya to stay at Etihad until his contract ends

Yaya Toure to stay at Manchester City

18 July 2014 - 14:43

Yaya Toure has vowed to remain at Manchester City and has squashed rumours that began largely this summer by his own agent.

  • Chelsea defender back in training ahead of Man Utd game
  • Chelsea keen on re-signing former graduate
  • Toure and his agent Dimitri Seluk have confirmed that the Ivory Coast international will remain at Etihad Stadium until 2017 (when his contract expires)

Toure has been linked with a move away from the Premier League champions this summer, amid reports of a breakdown in his relationship with the club, but the midfielder was quick to reassure the City fans.

"There has been a lot of speculation but they’ve always been good with me and good with my family. I want to say that I will always honour my contract and stay as long as possible and don’t think about all the speculation saying that I’m leaving.

"For the fans for all they have done for me and the club as well, I need to say it’s a big pleasure to stay and continue and try to enjoy the next season." The midfielder told Sky Sports news.

It had been reported that Toure was upset that City had overlooked his birthday in May, but it has been made clear now that all the problems have been resolved.
