Yaya Toure makes Man City u-turn

20 July 2014 - 02:57

Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure has made a u-turn on previous comments attributed to him, suggesting that he now wants to stay at Manchester City for the foreseeable future.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Mikel Arteta confirms big injury boost for Spurs clash

  • Toure slammed the club for failing to make an effort on his birthday and subsequently the player had then been linked with a move away from the Etihad, thus being strongly linked with a return to his former club Barcelona.

However, Toure has now backtracked and told club representatives he is happy to stay at Man City.

Toure quipped: "The fans have always been good to me, they've always been good to my family. I want to stay. I will always honour my contract. I don't think about all this speculation. It's a big pleasure to stay and enjoy the next season.

"Everything is fine now. There was a lot of speculation, you know. I think sometimes it's quite disappointing. I need to do something for the fans, it's important to let them know, they have done a lot for me. The team is preparing well and we will try to win again next season."
