West Bromwich Albion have successfully secured the services of Greece international Georgios Samaras, according to the club's official website.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 29-year-old, who previously plyed his trade in the Premier League with Manchester City, has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at the Midlands club.

Samaras was a free-agent following his release from Celtic earlier in the summer, and reports had claimed that he was keen on a return to the English top flight.

The deal was confirmed by Baggies boss Alan Ervine, he said : "We've signed a player with vast experience and I'm delighted to welcome Sami to the club.

"He has played a lot of football at the highest levels – Champions League, European Championships and World Cups, and the feedback we've got on him, from people like Neil Lennon, states he thrives on the big occasion. He will certainly play in plenty of those in the Barclays Premier League."
