Frank Lampard retires from England duties

26 August 2014 - 14:31

Midfielder Frank Lampard has decided to quit international football. The Man City midfielder has called time on his England career ahead of focusing on club football.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Atalanta, Caicedo starts
  • Chelsea handed Liam Delap injury boost

  • The former Chelsea man joins Steven Gerrard as the two high profile retirees since the World Cup.

"It has been a very tough decision for me to make," Lampard said.

"That is why I have given it so much thought since the World Cup. Due to my club career now going in a different direction, it is of utmost importance for me to consider my family first and also to concentrate on how I can perform consistently to the best of my abilities over my next few years in club football."
