Sunderland to make surprise signing

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has promised new signings before the end of the transfer window. Poyet has reportedly tabled offers for Virgil van Dijk and Ricky Alvarez.

Virgil van Dijk will reportedly arrive at the Stadium of Light from Celtic and Ricky Alvarez has been told he is surplus to requirements at Inter Milan and can leave on a loan transfer.

"We’re moving, we’re moving very fast because it’s getting close," said Gus Poyet. "I’m confident we’ll be doing something. You're going to be surprised"
