The Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is understood to have a good relationship with the Netherlands international, and this could play a big part in the transfer agreement.

According to The Telegraph, the Red Devils have begun talks with Roma over the transfer of the 24-year-old, which would most likely take place in January.

Van Gaal has yet to register a win at United, in spite of spending in excess of £140m on players this summer.
