Roma dismiss Kevin Strootman speculation

11 September 2014 - 23:41

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has ruled out the possibility of selling star midfielder Kevin Strootman this January.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The Netherlands international has been linked with a switch away from the Capital outfit in recent weeks, with Manchester United considered favourites to seal his services during the winter transfer window.

However, Sabatini has revealed that the talented Dutchman is poised to stay with the Serie A giants .

"He is an extraordinary player, and these rumours [of his sale] have been based on the desires of other clubs," He said.

"We want to keep him, he is our point of strength. Of course he is unsellable, but we must contextualise that I do not say he is for sale. We receive offers, protect him and defend him, but I do not know what will happen."

Strootman notched up five goals and six assists for Roma last season.
