Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has denied that Mike Ashley is looking to sell his stake in Newcastle. There were rumours over the weekend that a consortium from Singapore were looking to buy his stake.

Mort has said the rumours that Ashley is looking to sell Newcastle to a Singapore consortium are completely false.



"It's just not true that Mike is looking to sell Newcastle. End of story," Mort told the Daily Express.



"He has taken them [businesses] under his wing and developed them over a period of years.



"That's what we talk about doing at Newcastle."
