Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will speak to Aston Villa in the coming weeks regarding a move for centre back Ron Vlaar. The struggling United coach is desperate to find a new defender to add to his squad in the January transfer window.

After slipping to a 5-3 defeat against Leicester City, it was evident that problems at the back continue to haunt van Gaal's side and the Dutchman is now ready to sign Vlaar from Aston Villa to fix up his shaky defence.

The Dutch defender was a part of Louis van Gaal's Netherlands squad at the World Cup in Brazil.

It is understood that Villa will sell Vlaar for as little as 6 million pounds as the centre back's contract will expire next summer.
