Shaqiri puts Liverpool on alert

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri hints at reconsidering future in Germany

Shaqiri puts Liverpool on alert

09 October 2014 - 18:59

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has put Premier League giants Liverpool on alert after stating that he will be willing to reconsider his future with the German club.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • The Swiss international was a top transfer targets for the Reds throughout the summer, but the Bundesliga’s reigning champions talked the 22-year-old into staying with the Allianz Arena outfit.

But having made a mere 10 league starts for the Bavarians last season, and just three so far in the new one, Shaqiri has failed to cement his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven.

And the future in Germany now looks bleak for the player and he feels there is a need to sit down and make the situation clear with the bosses in January.

“In the summer I said that I would like to have more playing time”, he told Swiss daily Neue Zeitung Zurich.

“I sat down with the club and made my position clear.

“I accepted staying, but in the winter we need to sit again and look at the situation”, the young footballer added.

Shaqiri joined Bayern Munich from the Swiss club Basel in 2012, after making a total of 130 appearances for the Super League side.
