Queiroz: no illegal move

Queiroz: no illegal move

11 December 2007 - 19:23

Carlos Queiroz has defended himself over reports that Sporting Lisbon's chairman Filipe Soares Franco accused Queiroz's conduct of being 'ethically and morally, very low' in his hunt to sign Portuguese developing starlets from clubs.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • "The idea I am going around Europe trying to persuade players to sign for Manchester United is ridiculous," Queiroz said.

"We have seven central midfield players already, so why would we want anymore?

"The president's comments were not only insulting and a personal slur, they were factually incorrect and despite people telling him so, he has refused to retract them.

"If he really believes what he is saying, he should tell Uefa or Fifa. Then they can look at it and prove what I am saying is right. Sadly, I don't think he will."
