Liverpool have received a setback as striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be out for another two to four weeks with a calf injury.
The England international was expected to make a swift return to the first-team this week, following a month lay-out with a hamstring niggle.
However, Rodgers has now confirmed that the 25-year-old injured his calf in training and will be out of action for up to a month.
“Daniel has pulled his calf,” He said. “He’s looking at being out for another two to four weeks."
“It’s a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back. He has worked tirelessly."
Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League.
