Liverpool have expressed their desire to sign Genoa shot-stopper Mattia Perin, according to a report.

The 21-year-old has produced a string of impressive performances for the Serie A outfit, and was part of Italy's World Cup squad over the summer.

According to Il Secolo XIX, Perin is being closely monitored by the Reds, who are thought to be keen on finding a suitable replacement for Belgian international Simon Mignolet.

Perin has yet to make an appearance for the Italian senior side.
