Arsenal are ready to make an offer for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, according to a report.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen on signing a top-class centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Wenger could consider a move for the England international, with United likely to sign his replacement in the New Year.
