Arsenal could reportedly make a shock move to re-sign former defender Thomas Vermaelen on loan in the winter transfer window.
The Belgian international left the Gunners to join the Catalan giants over the summer, having failed to cement his place in the first-team at the Emirates in the previous season.
According to The Express, Barca are open to sending Vermaelen out on loan for the rest of the season in order to build up his match fitness following his recent injury troubles.
The report adds that Arsenal could make a move for the talented defender as the club face a defensive crisis.
Vermaelen is currently out for an indefinite period following a fresh injury setback.
