Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal at the club, as per The Star.

The England international's existing deal at the Red Devils expires next summer, and an injury at the start of the season led to the speculation that he could depart from the club at the end of the campaign.

However, the talented midfielder has been excellent form for the club since his return from injury, and The Star claims that manager Louis van Gaal is keen on sealing his long-term future.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League.
