Arsenal target Romulo staying at Spartak Moscow

The owner of Russian side Spartak Moscow has ruled out star midfielder Romulo leaving the club in favour of a move to London club Arsenal. The defensive star had reportedly already agreed terms with the Gunners in January.

  • The 24-year-old, who has played for the Russian side for over two and a half years, seemed to be edging closer to a move to Arsenal this week. However, the owner of Spartak Moscow has moved quickly to refute Romulo's exit. Leonid Fedun told reporters: "At the moment Romulo is on a three year contract. No way are we selling him."

With the Brazilian seemingly set to stay in Russia for the time being, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will now need to find a defensive midfielder elsewhere.
