Liverpool have made a formal approach for Bayern Munich striker Xherdan Shaqiri, according to The Mirror.
The Swiss international is open to a move away from the Allianz Arena this winter, having failed to feature in the first-team on a regular basis.
The Mirror reports that the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on having a new midfielder onboard in the current transfer window, and considers Xhaqiri as the perfect fit in his jigsaw puzzle.
In addition to this, the club have made a firm offer for the Swiss maestro as they look to keep their hopes alive of making it in to the top four in the Premier League come the end of the season.
