Fabio to tempt Carra, Scholes

Fabio to tempt Carra, Scholes

17 December 2007 - 11:48

Fabio Capello is believed to be interested in tempting Man Utd's Paul Scholes and Liverpool's Jamie Carragher out of their international retirements in order to help England as they begin a new era under the Italian boss. Both players have retired from England to focus on their club football.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • England could've done with the defensive cover of Jamie Carragher in the defeat to Croatia that knocked them out of Euro 2008 qualification, and the influence of Paul Scholes in the middle has been missed for many years by England.

Scholes was highly regarded for his goalscoring exploits from midfield, but retired to focus on his Manchester United career.

"The players are first-rate and there are plenty to choose from," he told The Times.

"Plus, there's one or two who retired who I hope to bring back."
