Koeman: Valencia clearout

Koeman: Valencia clearout

18 December 2007 - 19:47

Ronald Koeman is ruling with an iron fist at Valencia, and has informed a couple of his veteran stars including Santiago Canizares and David Albelda that they may no longer be required at the club.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Gary Neville breaks silence on Ruben Amorim

  • The Spanish duo were left out by Koeman for the Copa del Rey tie with Real Union on Wednesday, and the Dutchman did not rule out their absence in the future.

"I have explained it to them because they aren't youngsters. This decision is, in principle, for the next two games and for the future it isn't possible to say as it is a matter for the club as well," Koeman told a news conference.

"Valencia is a ship and those who don't want to be on board, will be out. To take these types of strong decisions I need the support of the president, and he agrees with me. It is for the good of Valencia.

"I want to change things and to give other players opportunities.

"One good result could change things. I am convinced it is going to happen and hopefully it will be tomorrow."
