The Dutch midfielder's current deal at AC Milan expires at the end of the season, and he is likely to seek for fresh pastures elsewhere.

According to The Star, the 30-year-old favours a summer move to Old Trafford, having earlier snubbed a return to Ajax.

De Jong has previously plyed his trade with Manchester City in the English top flight.
