Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.
The 20-year-old made his first senior appearance for the Red Devils under Louis Van Gaal on the opening day of the season against Swansea City, and has since then notched up 10 appearances for the Mancunian giants.
Recent reports claimed that the talented central defender could be among the list of players heading out of United at the end of the season.
However, this has now been clarified, with Blackett extending his stay at Old Trafford by a further two seasons.
Van Gaal revealed his pleasure over Blackett's contract extension, He said :"I am delighted that Tyler has signed a new contract. He is another young player that has risen through the Academy system to break into the first-team squad this season."
"Tyler has great potential and I believe he is at the right club to continue his development and progression to become a great defender."
