Manchester City are ready to make a club-record bid for Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, according to The Mail.

The talented striker joined Barcelona from Liverpool over the summer, has since then played a bit-part role in the first-team.

However, he has gained form of late, and recently tormented City's defence during Barca's 2-1 away win in the Champions League.

According to The Mail, City are planning a record offer for the former Reds star, who is believed to be keen on a return to the English top-flight next season.

However, Barca are unlikely to offload their star asset unless their transfer embargo is lifted.
