Utd get Manucho Goncalves

21 December 2007 - 22:06

Man Utd have completed the shock signing of Angolan 24-year-old striker Manucho Goncalves. The player had been on trial for over two weeks in Manchester, and has done enough to secure a shock three year contact at the Red Devils.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Goncalves has been a prolific goal-scorer for his club Petro Atlético and a key player for Angola.

Ferguson had been looking to bolster the strike department in January as the Red Devils are on track for defending their Premiership glory as they trail the leaders Arsenal by just a point. And also aim to mount a serious challenge in the Champions League.

He told his club's website: "We have had Manucho here for a 3-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a 3-year contract.

"He is a tall, agile, quick forward and through contacts that Carlos [Queiroz] has was brought to our attention around six months ago.”
