Manchester United are tracking the performances of Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez, with a view to a summer offer for his services.
The Spanish defender has emerged as one of the bright spots for the La Liga champions this season.
Gimenez came into the first-team last year, with defender Miranda sidelined with an injury. Since then he has put on a string of excellent performances for the Basque outfit.
According to The Mirror, United boss Louis van Gaal had sent scouts to watch the talented defender in action against Bayer Leverkusen last week, and could launch a move for his signature following a positive feedback.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League.
