Fulham get important point

Fulham get important point

22 December 2007 - 23:49

The spoils were shared at Craven Cottage as Fulham drew 1-1 with relegation rivals Wigan. Managerless Fulham will be delighted ot have come away with a very important point.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Fulham enjoyed the better of the chances in the first half but failed to make the breakthrough. Carlos Bocanegra saw his header from a corner loop over Chris Kirkland but headed off the line by Denny Landzaat. That was before Paul Konchesky found himself with space to shoot and unleashed a 30-yard rocket that crashed against the crossbar.

Despite Fulham's opportunities it was Wigan who broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when Michael Brown launched a high ball into the area which Titus Bramble knocked on for Marcus Bent to bring down on his chest and slam into the top corner for his fourth goal in two matches.

Fulham pressed forward and eventually got the goal they deserved when Diomansy Kamara's miss-hit shot rolled across the six yard box for the waiting Clint Dempsey, who slotted the ball home.

After that David Healy and Kamara went close to a second for the home side, while Antoine Sibierski headed inches over at the other end.
