Southampton could make a summer move for Caen's Ngolo Kante, should they fail to keep Victor Wanyama at the club beyond the summer.

Wanyama has played an influential role in the club's progress since his move from Celtic in 2013.

The Mirror claims that the South Coast outfit will look to sign a new holding midfielder this summer, should the Kenyan international seek a move to a top European club.

The report adds that the Saints are tracking the progress of Caen star Kante, with a view to a possible summer move for his services.

Kante is currently valued at £5m.
