The Argentine striker was constantly linked with a switch to the Gunners in the summer of 2013, until he opted to join the Naples outfit from Real Madrid.

Metro now claims that the talented striker could seek himself a fresh challenge away from Serie A, should he fail to sign a new contract extension before the end of the current campaign.

The report adds that the Gunners will look to swoop for the player's services, should he be available in the transfer market during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are currently second in the league standings following their 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool at the Emirates over the weekend.
