Arsenal are ready to make a club-record bid for one of Europe's most wanted midfielders.

The 23-year-old has played himself into the reckoning at Real Madrid, and has been a regular for the club in La Liga this season.

However, he is understood to be unhappy at Los Blancos, having not be considered for the big games.

According to The Express, the Gunners are plotting a record offer of around £45m to sign up the former Malaga man this summer.

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League.
