Chelsea fail in defender pursuit

Italian giants Napoli have reportedly rebuffed an offer from Chelsea for defender Faouzi Ghoulam.

The Algerian international has established himself as a regular at the Naples outfit since his move from Saint Etienne in January 2014.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the talented defender produced a number of impressive displays for Napoli in the Europa League last season, and this has prompted the Blues to make a £10.8m offer for his services.

However, Napoli have rebuffed the bid insisting that the player is not for sale.

Ghoulam made 39 appearances for Napoli last season.
