Swansea City are weighing up a pay-as-you-play free transfer for experienced forward Darren Bent. The striker had been released from his contract with Aston Villa.

Bent, who is seen as somewhat of a journeyman in his career, still feels the best is yet to come and wants one last try in the Premier League. Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood made it clear to Darren that he would not be offered a new deal and the striker has left Villa Park. Swansea City are hoping to add backup attacking options to their squad before the start of the new Premier League campaign, with Bent seen as the best available option on the market.
