The Reds are believed to have failed with a initial bid of around £20m for the Belgian international, who was in top form for the Villans in the back end of last season.

Aston Villa have clearly stated they will not accept bids below the £32m mark for the talented marksman.

However, The Mirror claims that the Reds are hoping to sign up the former Genk star with a renewed offer of £25m with additional performance based bonuses.
