Sunderland table bid for Nicolas Lombaerts

Sunderland have made a fresh bid for centre back Nicolas Lombaerts. The Black Cats' manager Dick Advocaat is to raid his former club Zenit St Petersburg for the signing of the 30-year-old Belgian.

Lombaerts has spent eight years playing in Russia and is one of the clubs most popular players. Lombaerts has previously hinted that he would love a move to the Premier League and the chance to link up with Advocaat is sure to tempt the defender.

It is understood that Sunderland are to bid approximately 4.5 million GBP to snap up the defender.

Sunderland will beat Belgian club Anderlecht and Italian side Genoa to sign Lombaerts.
