Arsenal are in pole position to sign one of their long-term targets, according to reports.
The Gunners have been long linked with a move for French striker Karim Benzema.
Reports in Spain now claim that the North London giants have been given the go ahead to land Benzema's signature, provided they are able to match Los Blancos' valuation for the talented marksman.
It is added that Los Blancos' hierarchy are open to the player's sale as they seek to recoup funds to bring in a young recruit to their ranks during the summer transfer window.
Real currently value Benzema at around £18m.
