Derby plan 4 or 5 signings

Derby plan 4 or 5 signings

30 December 2007 - 23:34

Derby County's chairman Adam Pearson has admitted that the club's perilous position in the Premiership will only encourage the Rams to dip into the transfer market; and Jewell will be given the ok to sign four or maybe five players.

  • "We're not going to concede anything yet, but we've got to be realistic - it looks a very difficult challenge," Pearson said.

"The recruitment we do in January will be based on a bit of pragmatism. There's no doubt we need to bring some new players to freshen it up ready to give it a real go towards the end of the season.

"We're certainly going to be investing in this window - that is for sure. We're obviously going to be bringing in four or five players if we possibly can.

"We're going to spend some money this window and we're going to move players in and out just as every club in the Premier League and Championship will be doing.

"Obviously we have half an eye on our situation and the players we bring in - some will be for this season some will be for next."
