Aston Villa have confirmed the arrival of midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Lille on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The Senegalese international is said to have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs this summer, but it is Villa who have won the race to land his services.
"I'm really pleased to have brought Idrissa on board. He's been one of the best young midfielders in France for the last few seasons and there were a lot of teams trying to sign him this summer." manager Tim Sherwood told the club's official website.
"I believe we are signing a player who is hungry to succeed, is entering what should be his best years and is perfectly suited to the Premier League."
The 25-year-old will link up with the West Midlands outfit once he has received his visa.
