The 22-year-old is expected to join the Principality outfit on a season-long loan deal, with the option of making it a permanent one at the end of next season.

Reports in Italy cite that El Shaarawy was seen saying farewell to his colleagues in the training ground with a move to Monaco close to completion.

El Shaarawy has struggled at San Siro in recent seasons, and a move to a new league could well rejuvenate his playing career.
