Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has made a fresh offer to sign up highly-sought English striker Charlie Austin this summer.

Austin is keen on a move back to the Premier League in the summer, following Queens Park Rangers' relegation to the Championship last season.

A whole host of clubs have been in the chase for the player's services, but none have met the R's asking price of £15m for the talented marksman.

According to The Mirror, Magpies boss McClaren has decided to meet R's valuation for Austin, and will look to land his signature in the upcoming week.

Austin scored 18 goals for the R's in all competitions last season.
