Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic is reportedly closing in on a summer move to St.James Park.
The Anderlecht striker scored 28 goals in all competitions last season, and has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks.
It had been earlier claimed that Porto could plan to hijack Magpies' bid for the 20-year-old.
However, ITV Sport cites that the talented striker is keen on a move to the Premier League, and will have a medical at Tyneside.
Mitrovic joined the Belgian giants from Partizan in 2013.
